Snow cancelled World Cup race in Germany

The tour skeleton and bobsled World Cup is going to mark the halfway point of the season along with the fourth stop which would take place in Koenigssee, Germany. Koenigssee is reportedly first of the state-of-the-art permanent artificially refrigerated track built for sliding in the whole world. The sliding track course is going to celebrate its 50th Anniversary as an artificial track in 2019.

Heavy snowfall has forced the organizers to cancel the scheduled Women’s and Men’s World Cup which was going to be organized on Friday in Germany. The organizers didn’t take an immediate decision as to how or when to reschedule these races. Snow has reportedly been falling in the heart of Koenigssee for many days now.

This also hurt the luge races of the World Cup on Koenigssee in the last weekend. The authorities were measuring the settling snow in meters and not in inches and neither in feet, near the track this week. Many regions of Germany have reportedly been experiencing significant traffic problems as well as avalanches.

The races of World Cup Bobsled were previously scheduled to be held on Saturday as well as on Sunday at the same place haven’t been unscheduled yet. However, the officials of the race have continuously been monitoring the conditions. By the looks of it, there will be a lot of snow at the weekend. And the officials have also revealed that they are currently expecting another 4-8 inches of snow as the day advances.

Elana Meyers Taylor from Douglasville, Georgia will once again race with Lake Kwaza from Sycamore, Illinois in the women’s bobsled race in the BMW sledge. This pair has already claimed two medals to their names in two of the races that they have teamed together. The duo has earned two bronze medals in Altenberg and Winterberg, Germany.
