Russian athletes are accused of doping

The authorities of Austria are currently investigating ten members of the biathlon team Russia for doping and fraud. The police visited the Russian accommodation team on Wednesday in Austria before a World Cup event and had a word with the athletes & staff. The case concerned a broad investigation into corruption and doping which involves the International Biathlon Union, whose president had surrendered in April after police action in the cabinet of the governing body.

Prosecutors of Austria have said in a statement that five Russian biathletes were suspected of serious fraudulent doping and that five agents of the team were suspected of using prohibited substances or doping methods. The authorities said they could watch the cash prizes won by the sponsored athletes for fraudulent profits.

The crimes were committed during the World Cup in Austria in 2017, prosecutors said, and added that the accused were officially informed that they had been the subject of an investigation. No Russian athlete in any sport has yet to face criminal proceedings for a series of doping scandals, which led to the fall of the team from the winter Olympics this year.

The Russian doping defender Grigory Rodchenkov said that this, year he provided information that led to the action embarked by the Austrian police. The team of Russia is in Austria for a World Cup event, and the Russian Biathlon Union has declared that it will continue to compete.

Anton Shipulin, Olympic champion, who won gold in Sochi Games back in 2014, said he was angry and furious at the witch hunt that is happening and has never been doped. Alexander Voronov took it to Instagram and wrote that he was accused of some transfusions and something else, apparently only done in February 2017. Maria Zakharova, the Foreign Ministry of Russia has said that the visit that was conducted overnight was way ahead of a major competition which is looking wild now.
