Lakers sign a one year deal with Rajon Rondo worth $9 million

It was just less than a day ago that Lakers had a follow up to get the best player in their team by surrounding with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Lance Stephenson, and JaVale McGee. But now, the team has finally upped the ante again and decided to cut tie with Julius Randle and add Rajon Rondo.

On Monday, after the Lakers announced about subtracting Randle from the team, they agreed to a one year deal with Rondo worth $9 million. Well, even though this may get many people surprised, but why the team took such a decision is still unclear.

The Lakers are either cutting ties with one of the strangest bits, preparing for the certainty that Kawhi Leonard will enter the team before the season starts or either the team will quickly ruin a good thing by making LeBron James pair up with a few veteran shooters who have a history of wearing out the welcomes.

In the last season, Rondo had proved with the Pelicans that he still could have as a steady backcourt presence. He had made an average 9.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 9.22 assists after DeMarcus Cousins did not perform well in this season while Playoff Rondo re-emerged in the first round sweep of the third-seeded Trail Blazers. However, his addition to the Lakers now pops a question of what shall be done with Lonzo Ball. Rondo should not start, but even though it was reported that LeBron James was excited to play with Lonzo, the Lakers are still trying to be winning the games now.

Well, the only directive the Lakers have now is to win even f the signing appears to indicate that more of a win in 2010 strategy adopted by them. There still may be certain more offseason moves which would prove that the Lakers signing Rondo, Stephenson, and others now is a part of a new strategy.
